Data Sources

What sources we accept for business verification.

Accepted Sources

We accept the following types of sources for verifying business information. Multiple sources increase confidence in the accuracy of listings.

Primary Sources

These sources carry the highest weight for verification:

  • Official Business Website: The business's own website with verifiable ownership (matching domain to business name)
  • Government Registries: National Agency of Public Registry of Georgia, tax authority records, licensing databases
  • Owner/Operator Direct Submission: Information provided directly by verified business representatives
  • Official Business Documentation: Registration certificates, licenses, permits (when provided)

Secondary Sources

These sources support primary verification:

  • Industry Associations: Georgian Tourism Administration, Georgian Wine Association, professional membership directories
  • Established Review Platforms: TripAdvisor, Google Business Profile (for cross-reference, not primary source)
  • News Media: Published articles from reputable news sources mentioning the business
  • Social Media Profiles: Verified business accounts on major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

Community Sources

These sources are used for initial discovery but require verification:

  • User Submissions: Information submitted by registry users (flagged as provisional until verified)
  • Local Directories: Regional business directories and tourism guides
  • Event Listings: Business participation in trade shows, festivals, or official events

Sources We Do Not Accept

  • Anonymous tips without corroborating evidence
  • Self-reported information without any verification
  • Promotional materials or advertising claims
  • Unverified social media posts
  • Information from known unreliable or spam directories
  • Outdated sources (more than 2 years old without recent confirmation)

Source Attribution

For verified businesses, we record:

  • Source URL or reference (when available)
  • Date accessed or received
  • Any relevant notes about the source

This information is displayed on verified business profiles to provide transparency about how we obtained the information.
