Verification Policy

How we verify and classify business listings in the registry.

Verification Levels

Each business listing has a verification status indicating the level of confidence in the accuracy of its information. This helps users understand how reliable the data is.

  • Validation timestamp recorded in profile

Claimed

The business owner or authorized representative has claimed and updated the listing.

Requirements:

  • Owner identity confirmed through business email or documentation
  • Profile information provided directly by the business
  • Business takes responsibility for accuracy of listed information

Provisional

Initial listing created from publicly available information, pending verification or owner claim.

Characteristics:

  • Information gathered from public sources
  • May contain incomplete or outdated details
  • Awaiting owner verification or independent confirmation
  • Users should verify critical details independently

Verification Process

Our verification process is currently manual and follows these steps:

  1. Source Collection: Gather information from official websites, government registries, and reputable directories.
  2. Cross-Reference: Compare information across multiple sources to identify discrepancies.
  3. Contact Verification: Confirm phone numbers and email addresses are functional and associated with the business.
  4. Documentation: Record all sources and verification dates in the business profile.
  5. Periodic Review: Re-verify information on a regular basis to maintain accuracy.

Suspension Policy

A business listing may be suspended if:

  • The business has permanently closed
  • Information is found to be fraudulent
  • The business requests removal
  • Legal or regulatory issues require delisting

Suspended listings are hidden from public view but retained for historical record purposes.
